About us
BACKGROUND
Our Work
Mainly our work focuses on the empowerment of persons with disabilities with business engagement and economic well-being not with charity model.
Based on the above major concept area, we are now working the empowerment of persons with disabilities by selecting one business type in Ethiopia where all the raw materials and expertise could be found. “This business is a carpet making business”. In order to involve many unemployed persons with disabilities and low income generating individuals, we have created a sustainable business value chain and market linkage in the world.
This business basically works more closely with the private business owners and persons with disabilities organizations and concerned local government stakeholders in the sector.
The value chain focuses on the carpet business, where the carpets are produced in different stages starting from sheep rearing and at the end exporting to the international communities in partnership with privately owned business companies based in Ethiopia and Finland to different part of the world. Amongst of the few value chain activities; there are organizations of persons with disabilities working on a sheep rearing to collect to supply the raw material wool to the other DPO who engaged in a wool processing which is followed by the carpet making workshop owner DPOs and then exported by private companies to Finland. Indeed, we have created a job opportunity for more than 300 persons with disabilities in Ethiopia under one business value chain program.
This is what our organization does right now in Ethiopia with the support of Abilis Foundation from Finland.
Real Inclusion Matters in Disability Inclusion!
